After a late Prime day in 2020 due to the pandemic, Amazon Prime Day 2021 is fast approaching during its regularly scheduled time.
The much anticipated June of July Prime date will be announced soon, but shoppers and brands alike are already beginning to plan for the huge shopping event.
Amazon played a huge role during the pandemic, amassing 200 million members in 2020. The huge Prime community suggests that this year’s event may be even larger than previous ones.
Back in 2020, membership was at 142 million. Even then, Amazon had two of history’s biggest days for small and medium businesses. Third-party sellers hit over $3.5 billion in sales, which was a whopping 60% increase from 2019.
The key for brands is to hit the sweet spot with pricing and promotion. Many successful retailers increased Prime Day sales by as much as 100% a year by preparing properly.
Prime day is one of the biggest eCommerce events of the year. It’s Amazon’s 48-hour event where Prime members can shop over 1 million deals. Deals include items in all categories, such as electronics, beauty, fashion, kitchen, home, Amazon devices, and more.
As the name implies, the event is only available to Amazon Prime members who pay an annual membership fee of $119 per year. To participate in Prime Day, anyone can create an account or start their free 30-day membership.
In 2020, Prime Day was delayed until the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Prime Day 2021 is anticipated to be on time. Amazon plans to return to its usual time frame for Prime Day. Amazon will reveal the exact date shortly, but they have confirmed that it will be “ before the end of the second quarter.” Chances are, the event will take place sometime in June. There may also be a second event in the fall.
For brands who sell on Amazon, Prime Day can be an incredibly lucrative event. However, you can’t just set it and let it when it comes to your selling strategy. To ensure you reach the right shoppers and convert from the big day, you’ll need to do some prep work. Here are some tips for preparing to sell on Prime Day 2021:
